The real value of a good CIO

My monthly column in CIO is out, this month taking a  look at the value a good CIO can bring to an organisation – and the cost of a poor CIO.  Often it’s hard to tell how much good, or bad, an IT leader has done until they’re gone. Some recent work has demonstrated to me once again  just how wide that gap between good and bad can be. At a time when the  public sector in particular is looking for better ways of improving our public services whilst delivering hard cash savings, a good CIO can clearly bring value well beyond their pay grade.
